Students Speak at Rising Stars Luncheon

On March 27, 2024, Sarahi Florence, a 7th grader at Walker Middle School, shared her inspiring journey at the Rising Stars Luncheon. She initially joined After-School All-Stars to fill the gap left by the absence of sports for 6th graders at her school. Initially hesitant, Sarahi soon found herself drawn to the club schedule, particularly enjoying Jewelry Club where she could express her creativity and connect with Ms. Tiffany, who became a trusted mentor.

Becoming a “Yabbie” (part of the Youth Advisory Board) gave Sarahi a sense of purpose as she helped lead activities and brainstorm ways to improve the program. This newfound leadership role ignited her interest in beauty and cosmetology, leading her to initiate a Fashion Club. Through her involvement, Sarahi discovered her voice and developed confidence, feeling supported by the All-Stars community.

Reflecting on her journey, Sarahi expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she received from mentors like Ms. Tiffany, who helped her navigate challenges and celebrate successes. Today, as a leader on her Step team, Sarahi embodies the spirit of All-Stars, fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and accepted.
